Nahathai Tanakul

Scientific interests:

  • stellar populations in the Local Group with special interest in globular clusters and variable stars

Projects for students:

  • RR Lyrae variable stars in the Galactic globular clusters : In this project, we use RR Lyrae properties in globular clusters to study stellar populations of the galaxy. We use data from the archive and also from Thai national telescope. Students will learn how to do photometry, determine, characterize variable stars and analyze the data.
  • Ages of star clusters : In this project, we use an automated software to derived ages of star clusters from the ACS treasury database and compare the derived ages to those from other method.
  • Other Possibilities : Stellar populations in Nearby Galaxies, star clusters, variable stars can also be discussed
