18 August 2025 – NARIT, together with the Northern School for the Blind under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen, Chiang Mai, brought more than 65 visually impaired students to visit the Thai National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Doi Saket. The students participated in activities such as “Getting to Know the Radio Telescope” and “Sounds from Space.” They then visited Princess Sirindhorn AstroPark in Mae Rim to join astronomy activities during “NARIT SCIENCE WEEK 2025” in celebration of National Science Week.

The program included interactive astronomy exhibitions, such as tactile learning about planetary gravity, meteorites, and the speed of sound; exploring galaxies through the activity “Galaxy in My Hands”; and exploring satellite parts and equipment in the satellite testing and assembly laboratory. The day ended with a planetarium show and an astronomy film.

This project aims to widen access to astronomy education for the visually impaired, encouraging learning, inspiration, imagination, and scientific thinking through hands-on experiences. It is designed to ensure equal opportunities in astronomy education for all, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the commitment to “leave no one behind,” a guiding principle for global partnership toward achieving sustainable social, economic, and environmental development by 2030.
