Today, Prof. Boonrucksar Soonthornthum, Executive Director of the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) and Prof. Peter Quinn, Executive of International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) inked an MoU, which is expected to be a supportive force and an in-demand mechanism behind the upcoming projects between the two institutes in the near future.

The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) extends its expertise to its neighbouring country – Lao PDR by organizing a workshop that reflects the most sought-after cooperative tool in engaging people to enhance public awareness in science, technology and innovation.  The workshop- “Southeast Asia Astronomy Workshop”, targeting at young university physics students and high school students from Lao PDR has been held as a pioneering project under the Southeast Asia Regional Office for Astronomy Development (SEA-ROAD) and the International Training Centre in Astronomy under the Auspices of UNESCO (ITCA) development programme.

Thailand-Korea’s Bond in Astronomy Turns Another Page of Prosperous History

Team Thailand led by Deputy Prime Minister, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak continued to cement its plans to attract investments from Korean investors during their expedition to the Republic of Korea after the successful economic team itinerary to Oman, Iran, Russian and Belarus respectively earlier this year. This trade mission was to attract the influx of Korean investments on technology in particular back to Thailand after the withdrawal of Korean mega electronic and electric companies to neighbouring countries.

Astronomy Sees No Borders As Thailand and Australia Are Making Waves for New Collaborations

Prof. Boonrucksar Soonthornthum, Executive Director of NARIT was granted a courtesy call to visit the Australian Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Paul Robilliard today to discuss future collaborations on the upcoming projects initiated by both countries.

Young Researchers from Thailand, Japan and South Korea galvanized in the hope to strengthen regional collaborations in Radio Astronomy during The 10th NARIT-KaVA Joint Science WG Meeting.

The beaming sunlight and excess of humidity in the seaside province of Krabi down the south of Thailand didn’t bother much of anticipation. 37 young researchers from three Asian countries gathered enthusiastically in the Thailand-Korea-Japan VLBI workshop which took place earlier in February. Named The 10th NARIT-KaVA Joint Science WG Meeting, aimed to create visibility on radio astronomy researches and technical trainings in the region.
