Today, Prof. Boonrucksar Soonthornthum, Executive Director of the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) and Prof. Peter Quinn, Executive of International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) inked an MoU, which is expected to be a supportive force and an in-demand mechanism behind the upcoming projects between the two institutes in the near future.

The first collaborative effort the two institutes are currently looking at is the development of High Performance Computing (HPC) for astronomy in Thailand as NARIT is on the verge of Big Data Management that needs to be handled effectively due to the escalation of new infrastructure and facilities that will generate more swamping floods of data for use than ever before.

The establishment of the linkage between NARIT and ICRAR is seen as a tool to promote formalized workshops and trainings, engaging the Thai and Australian astronomical communities together via Supercomputing and Data Intensive Technology. An influx of knowledge and technology transfer will be perceived as an impetus to shape up Thai Radio Astronomy in establishing Thai VLBI Network  (TVN) through the experienced guidance of the Australian counterpart.
