Thai-Lao tie has been firmly strengthened once again, this time, by science, technology and innovation. Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology leads the Thai expedition to bolster the collaborative network at 6th Ministerial Meeting in Cooperation on Science and Technology between the Kingdom of Thailand and Lao PDR in Vientiane. Following on the MoU on STI signed on 26 Nov 2014, senior officials from both countries met yesterday at Senior Officials Meeting and came up with 14 collaborative branches to corroborate.

Astronomy is also included as one of the steering forces for this collaborative effort. "Astronomy brings in the joy of learning with imaginative and intuitive cognitions. They are perfect ingredients to inspire children to deploy science as a tool to discover their nature that surrounds them." said Prof. Boonrucksar Soonthornthum, NARIT Executive Director. Public outreach and higher education at Master and Doctorate degrees in astronomy are among the main collaborative efforts that have been mutually agreed upon. "With our current infrastucture and facilities together with our experienced staff and concrete strategic plan, we are certain that this collaboration can be achieved successfully." added Prof. Boonrucksar in the 6th Ministerial Meeting.

Furthermore, Dr.Pichet Durongkaveroj reiterated that science, technology and innovation play a major role in bringing the two nations closer and together Thailand and Lao PDR will prosper under the appropriate use of STI.
