7th SEAAN Meeting 2015
Prof. Boonrucksar Soonthornthum, NARIT executive director and president of SEAAN presides over the opening of 7th SEAAN (Southeast Asia Astronomy Network) Meeting 2015 today in Krabi, Thailand. This year sees a very special occasion as the 7th SEAAN Meeting is held in conjunction with History and Heritage Working Group Meeting and SEAYAC (Southeast Asian Young Astronomers Collaboration) 2015. The events run from Nov 30 until 4 December 2015.

Thailand's astronomical archives centre stampeding at a fast pace
A visit to l'observatoire de Paris has been made official today by Prof. Boonrucksar Soonthornthum, Executive Director of NARIT and his team. The effort in establishing a national centre for archives in astronomy has long been his passion since the beginning of his career. The attempt has been work in process since NARIT saw the first light. "We at NARIT have always been driven by the fact that our great history and heritage in astronomy of our nation have driven us to where we are today" says Prof. Boonrucksar.

Today Prof. Boonrucksar Soonthornthum, NARIT Executive Director attends the 197th session of the Executive Board of UNESCO at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France. This year, Thailand sees an open door of vast opportunities as the proposal for the Establishment of Category 2 International Training Centre in Astronomy under the Auspices of UNESCO shall be endorsed and adopted by the 197th session of the Executive Board of UNESCO, making NARIT a truly international astronomical research organization that brings astronomy and its related sciences, relevant developments and capacity building in the global arena to a new height.

Astronomy for All
On the other side of the Pacific, Prof. Boonrucksar Soonthornthum, NARIT Executive Director and his team makes a considerably good progress today, deploying XXIX IAU General Assembly as a tool to expand NARIT's expertise in public outreach by meeting the head figures of the Office for Astronomy Outreach (OAO). The talk aims at connecting the OAO to SEA-ROAD (Southeast Asia Regional Office for Astronomy for Development) of which has been hosted by NARIT. In working together, there has been a great demand for more communications and networking from both sides. The both parties agree to come up with activities such as workshops to better understand the needs of each other to implement and execute public outreach platforms at a whole new level.
