5.5.1  Ganesh Halkare 

Ganesh has a post-graduate degree in anthropologist and archaeology from Nagpur University and works as an advocate in Amravati, India; has carried extensive ethnoastronomical research in India in collaboration with Mayank Vahia; and has published on Indian archaeology and ethnoastronomy.

 

5.5.2  Dr Duane Hamacher

Duane has post-graduate degrees in astrophysics and ethnoastronomy and works in the Monash University Indigenous Studies Centre in Melbourne, Australia; carries out ethnoastronomical research among Aboriginal Australians; supervises graduate students in ethnoastronomy; and has published extensively on ethnoastronomy and archaeoastronomy.

 

5.5.3  Pisit Nitiyanant

Pisit is an astronomy educator who works at NARIT in the Outreach Department; participates in NARIT’s astronomical education programs; carries out history of astronomy research in Thailand and Myanmar; and can translate from Thai to English during the Workshop’s Fieldwork Project.

 

5.5.4  Professor Wayne Orchiston

Wayne is an astronomer with a background also in anthropology, geology and prehistory who works at NARIT in the Research and Development Department; carries out Māori ethnoastronomical research and plans to conduct ethnoastronomical research in SE Asia; has supervised 32 graduate students in history of astronomy (including archaeoastronomy); and has published extensively on the history of astronomy.

 

5.5.5  Professor Mayank Vahia

Mayank is an astronomer who works at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai, India; carries out ethnoastronomical and archaeoastronomical research in India (sometimes in collaboration with Ganesh Halkare) and plans to conduct ethnoastronomical research in SE Asia; and has published extensively on the history of astronomy (including papers on Indian tribal astronomy).

 

5.5.6  Professor Fatan Yahaya

Fatan is an anthropologist who teaches anthropology at the University of Sains Malaysia in Penang, Malaysia; carries out anthropological and ethnoastronomical research among the orang asli tribes of Malaysia; and supervises graduate students in anthropology and ethnoastronomy.
