Prof. emeritus Dr. Kittichai Wattananikorn, Chairman of NARIT Executive Board

Message from the Chairperson of NARIT Executive Board

National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) is still young as it is only seven years since its proclamation in the Royal Thai Government Gazette on December 31, 2008. However, there have been a great amount of works widely recognized for either knowledge transfer services or cooperation networking, in addition to the astronomical research and development networks both domestic and overseas.

Nevertheless, there are some strengths and weaknesses as it is a new agency. For strengths, it is the organization comprising new generations with enthusiasm and capability suited to rapid changes of the current world, particularly knowledge for astronomical advancements. For shortcomings, the number of researchers and experiences are to be added, especially the in-depth research and development which can highlight NARIT’s academic matters to be more accepted in the world’s astronomical circles. Therefore, personnel development and research are one of the key policies given by Executive Boards to NARIT for further successful implementations.

I strongly believe that, with determination and full attempts for operations by NARIT’s executives and staffs as well as supportive personnel, NARIT will generate contributions to the country and the world. This will not only provoke the youths to be curious about their surrounding sciences through the logic of science principles, but will also produce a great number of research studies and developments in astronomy and relevant sciences with great impacts on the academic circles, the country, and mankind in the upcoming future.

Emeritus Professor Dr. Kittichai Wattananikorn

Chairperson, NARIT Executive Board
